BIBLIOGRAPHY – NON FICTION
Tunku Halim latest non-fiction book is History of Malaysia – A Children's Encyclopedia (2009).
It
took him 5 years to write it. It was practically a one-person effort
which included all research, writing, photography, graphic
design, page layout and most illustrations.
More detailed information on the book is available here.
In some ways, this encyclopedia was a follow up to the author's previous publication, A Children's History of Malaysia (2003).
The book was inspired by Charles Dickens's A Child's History of England and Sophie's World by Jostein Gaardener. The idea was to make history simple for children, to tell it as a story without the dates.
He has also written a biography of his late father, Tunku Abdullah – A Passion for Life (1998)
The
author's father was a politician and businessman. He was taken from
Malaysia to Japan for "education" as a teenager during the Second World
War. Later in life, he became known as a "playboy" and was married six
times.
The author also co-authored The New Golf Paradigm
with Kris Barkway (2001). It taught readers how to play golf by using
more of the mind and also passed on its philosophy to life.
His earliest books are Condominums: Purchase Investment & Habitat (1996) and Everything the Condominium Developer Should Have Told You But Didn't (1992). Both books delved into the pitfalls for consumers in buying apartments in Malaysia.
